Waking up groggy, sleeping in, and just feeling ‘okay enough’ to make it to lunch, are all excuses you’ve probably had as to why you haven’t had the time for a good breakfast, let alone a healthy one! A good breakfast fuels you, getting you ready for the day more than anything, even a good nights sleep, so why do people often disregard breakfast? Most of the time it’s usually because our body is still adjusting when woken up, allowing you to feel as though you’re not that hungry, but if you entertain that concept and just wait till lunch to eat your first meal you’re more likely to be irritable, restless, and tired. Not to mention you’ll have a very hard time making healthier decisions for your body when you skip meals throughout the day, just to end up with an unnecessary binge on something you wouldn’t have normally chosen.

The key to having an energizing and fulfilling breakfast is to prepare something full of healthy proteins, this will help energize and keep you full. It could be as simple as putting peanut butter on toast or a seasoned hard-boiled egg! The extra protein will boost your mood and your mindset for a great start to the day!

For extra fiber to keep you fuller longer, stick to adding a tablespoon of chia or flax seeds to your morning smoothie or even over some fresh fruit, extra fiber in you diet specifically in the morning will help you maintain your eating habits and will also cut out any cravings for sugar such as tempting breakfast cereal.

Just know that a grab and go breakfast isn’t always the key to success when it comes to early mornings! Not having enough food is just as bad as no breakfast in general, be sure you have a decent meal in the morning, something that satisfies your body and mind, because in the end it will keep you from a day of overeating if you are kind to your body!

Preparing meals the night before such as beans, veggies, and fruit can make the morning preparation much easier to handle, more manageable, and will overall keep you more organized. You’ll be surprised at how easy a berry smoothie or a bowl of savory oatmeal can seriously change the total direction of your day.
